Dumbarton Basketball Club

About Us

Dumbarton Dodgers Basketball Club was founded in 1981 and played their first game in a small hall in Dumbarton Academy. The club has constantly evolved over the years and for a time were known as the Dumbarton Suns. Since the Meadow Centre was built the club has used it to train and host their home matches. We have also used school halls throughout Dumbarton and for a while even trained in Drumchapel.

Over the last few years we have ran junior, senior and cadet teams though going in to the 10/11 season only have a senior mens team.

We compete in the Strathclyde League Basketball Associaition and over the years have continued to field a competitive side into the league. As the club is primarly recreational and non-profit making success has depended on the strength and commitment of the group of players attending over the years taking on the well resourced Glasgow and Ayrshire sides. We have had success in the Consolation Cup winning it once out of three final appearances. In the league we had our best showing getting promotion to Division 1 season 05/06 and achieving our highest finish season 06/07.
